World Association of Flower Arrangers

June 16-19, 2011
Seaport World Trade Center, Boston

The World Association of Flowers Arrangers put on a fabulous event named "This Glorious Earth" in Boston at the Seaport World Trade Center. Over 600 arrangements were placed in 30 classes with intriguing titles like Electricity, Fireworks, Reef, Music and Zipper. Four of our members rose to the occasion and their talents are displayed below. In addition, Julie Lapham was one of six American designers who demonstrated for eager audiences. A bus from Worcester carried about thirty garden club members to Boston and a good time was had by all.

Ginna Thoma and Julie Lapham worked together to create this totem pole in a class called "Beasts". How many faces can you find? They were rewarded with a silver ribbon.

Kathy Michie made this stunning arrangement of a class called "Zipper." Using a structure made of sticks, she alternated rows of flowers to create the "teeth" of the zipper.

Sarah Ribeiro crafted the arrangement and the container in a class called "Writing." The brushes and the bamboo came home with her from a recent trip to China.
